Safety-matic
In many states today, manual dampers for gas fireplaces are now required by law to be removed. or that the damper be permanently locked in the open position. Why? Because the risks of forgetting to open the damper are too high.

What is Safety-matic? It means safety is automatic with Flue Sentinel installed in your home.

Key safety features
A warm flue, is a safer flue

Gas fireplaces are designed with built-in safety features to ensure that your fireplace is operating correctly and safely. Flue Sentinel adds an extra layer of safety to protect your family and your home.

Key product features make Flue Sentinel invaluable:

Fire starts only after the Flue Sentinel damper is proven open
Dual, redundant switches and built-in safety control circuitry prevent the gas logs from igniting until the damper is open
Damper closes when the gas logs are turned off
Patent-pending damper design is tested and listed (USA)
Each and every Flue Sentinel system is individually quality-inspected

FACT: A warm flue is a safer flue

Flue Sentinel is placed at the top of the chimney instead of at the bottom near your firebox for good reason: a warm flue is safer than a cold flue. At start-up, a warm flue will readily draft all products of combustion. A cold flue will take time to warm up: upon start-up of the fire, gas or the products of combustion can spill into your living area (you may even be able to smell the gas and/or the products of combustion) and your family can breathe them in. Flue Sentinel was developed with these facts in mind.

A cold flue does not vent properly upon start-up of your fireplace.
At start-up, there is cold air in the flue blocking the warm air and products of combustion from venting through the chimney, and forces it into the living space through the firebox.
Flue Sentinel ensures a warm flue and enhances proper ventilation.
At start-up, there is warm air in the flue. Gas combustion products are properly vented up through the flue, escaping through chimney.
